Kirkwood, California

Kirkwood just 35 miles south of Heavenly, is one of Tahoe’s more challenging mountains. With the highest base elevation at 7,800', Kirkwood gets the deepest, driest snow on its double black diamond terrain. Kirkwood is known amongst experts for serious steep and deep including the legendary “Wall.” However, Kirkwood has ample lower mountain terrain to lure families to the 2,300-acre ski area. A modest base are serves skier needs, and a friendly local crowd convenes at Kirkwood. They call it the K factor. Kirkwood has just been purchased by Vail resorts, making this Vail's third Lake Tahoe resort in good company with Heavenly and Northstar. So look for upgrades to Kirkwood ski lifts and multi resort pass and lift ticket deals for the Tahoe trifecta.

Kirkwood Stats:
72 trails and 14 lifts
2,300 acreage
2,000’ vertical
 9,800' Summit Elevation
