Kicking Horse is an amazing ski resort on BC’s Powder Highway, and Glacier Mountaineer Lodge is the perfect on-slope condo-style hotel steps to the base to summit gondola. Our suite was Rocky Mountain casual decor, with a gourmet kitchen, fireplace, balcony for apres ski in the sun, washer/dryer, you name it. Ski lockers and an outdoor hot tub are nice hotel amenities, and we could walk to a few shops, après ski and restaurants in the village, or visit downtown Golden- an historic humble mining town.
Fernie, also on BC’s Powder Highway, offers big mountain skiing, 2,500 acres, with a small humble ski resort feel. Lizard Creek Lodge at Fernie is a lovely condo-suite property, right on the slopes, offering guests outdoor hot tubs and a full service Neve Spa, beautiful dining at Cirque, an Ice Bar for après ski vodka tasting, kid activities, convenient ski lockers, and underground parking.
Jasper Park Lodge – this magnificent historic mountain lodge in Jasper National Park is the ultimate great Canadian Lodge, surrounded by 700 acres of pristine land.
