Mayflower is a new Deer Valley ski resort community being developed just south of Deer Valley Resort in Utah, between Park City and Heber City. This new village and ski area is actually located near the base of Deer Valley’s Jordanelle gondola, and overlooks Jordanelle Reservoir. The new resort community is underway – having merged with Deer Valley Resort (Alterra) – with what will double Deer Valley’s skiable acres on mostly north-facing terrain, with 16 new lifts and a new 10-passenger gondola. When completed, Deer Valley will offer 5,726 acres of ski-only terrain spread across 10 mountains!
Mayflower Mountain Resort, so named for now as its off the Mayflower Mine Road, has a targeted opening date of the 2024-25 ski season, but already 26 miles of roads and infrastructure are in place which you can see from the slopes of Deer Valley and US 40. Mayflower Mountain Resort’s tenure is 5,600 acres on the west side of U.S. 40, about half the size of Park City.
“Mayflower” Deer Valley is being developed in a merger with Extell Utah, parent company of developments including Four Season at Vail, Hard Rock, Park Hyatt and W Hotels, plus Deer Valley Resort.
It is proposed to be North America’s newest world-class alpine village to be developed since the 1980s – Snowbasin. As part of Deer Valley, the resort is approved for up to 1,560 residential units and another 800 in hotel rooms and suites. The plan is to create a ski village and golf community with multiple luxury and lifestyle-branded hotels and more than 1,000 private residences ranging from estate lots to luxury condominiums.
Clearly this is not intended to be a private ski resort, like Yellowstone Club in Montana, or nearby Wasatch Peaks Ranch in Utah on the way to Snowbasin Resort and Powder Mountain Utah which has a semi-private mountain retreat club model. Deer Valley’s Mayflower includes land set aside for the military, workforce housing and a recreation center that will be open to the public. There will also be public access hiking and biking trails.
