Serfaus Fiss Ladis is ideal for an Austrian luxury family ski vacation –with modern lifts, wonderful ski school and guides, beautiful on mountain chalets and restaurants, spectacular views of The Alps, and five-star slope-side lodging. It’s a busy ski region, but there’s a lot of terrain.
Skiing at this western Austria resort, you have seven peaks and a vast trail network connected by 68 modern lifts from three alpine villages. Serfaus is high elevation (1400-2800 meters, summit 9,278’) promising reliable snow conditions, with the assurance of snowmaking.
Serfaus Fiss skiing is up on sunny high plateaus with amazing views to Germany, Switzerland and Italy. You’re in the heart of the Austrian Alps, near other big ski resorts The Arlberg’s St Anton and Ischgl.
Serfaus Fiss Ladis is ipopular with families, given its big network of red and blue trails served by modern efficient, high-capacity lifts, six to eight passenger chairs, and gondolas. The ski school is multi-lingual with excellent kids programs, in fact the resort resembles Disney on snow with fun parks and animated trails – a Bear Cave, Dino Forest and Indian village – to entertain children learning to ski. Mascots Murmli the marmot and Berta the cow are everywhere.
Expert skiers will discover the Serfaus area offers some steep terrain on the highest peak Masnerkopf at 2,828 meters. Hiring a guide at Serfaus from Ski School, you can venture off-piste into huge snow bowls or extreme chutes for a true alpine adventure. Our guide took us on an amazing long “out of bounds” run that reminded me of a day heli-skiing in Canada.
Serfaus Fiss Ladis’ on mountain cuisine scene is fantastic, with so many beautiful on mountain chalets and restaurants to ski to, over 25, from classic Austrian huts like See Alm in Serfaus and Leithe Wert, to luxurious modern glass structures – The Ski Lounge and the Crystal Cube. We also enjoyed the panorama while snacking on pizza served at the bar at Lassida at 2350-meters atop the Komperdell lift. The region’s Leithe smoked meats and local Tirol cheeses are extraordinary. Relaxing on any sun terrace after a delicious Tyrolean lunch is part of the ski scene to be savored on a chalet deck or umbrella bar.
For lodging, Fiss village has beautiful authentic alpine lodges in a 600-year old setting, in the heart of the ski resort. The Schlosshotel Fiss is first-class, five-star – like a castle on the ski slopes, with a lovely Spa featuring indohttps://www.schlosshotel-fiss.com/en/or & outdoor pool and hot tubs, and a stately dining room for daily breakfast and dinner. Parents can enjoy après ski cocktails in the beautiful bar and lounge, while children go to Kids Club in the Hotel. Our suite was perfect with a scenic balcony, lovely bath and the fluffiest of down duvets on our grand bed.
Serfaus is the most contemporary and largest of the three ski villages, with a walkable village filled with ski shops, markets and several restaurants, and top hotels like Cervosa and Serfaus Mountain Lodge.
The best après ski bar is Patchi in Serfaus where skiers end their last run and party on the grand wooden deck or inside the rustic barn to DJ music into the evening. This is one of the best apres ski bars in Austria.
Ladis is the smallest village at lowest elevation, a quieter romantic place to stay for couples on ski holiday, by the historic Laudeck castle.
Serfaus Fiss Ladis is a fun-filled Austrian ski resort, among the best European ski regions. It is busy during weekends and holidays however. You could include Serfaus in a ski safari by skiing nearby Ischgl, and smaller ski areas in Paznaun like Galtür, See and Kappl, or The Arlberg skiing of St Anton and Stuben, Lech Zurs. Serfaus is 100 kilometers to Innsbruck, 200 to Zurich or Munich.
