Top Luxury Ski Hotels

We love to ski, and après ski! There’s no better combo than good snow, great skiing and a top luxury ski hotel at trail’s end. Here are our favorite luxury ski hotels in the U.S.

Beaver Creek, Colorado – stay at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek for the ultimate location, ski service, suite views of the slopes and you are step to the lifts, the Village and the most beautiful outdoor pool with 5 hot tubs. We love the Park Hyatt outdoor plaza for après ski drinks in the sun under blankets by the firepit. Ski the World Cup Downhill Birds of Prey, then go ice skating in the centerpiece rink in the beautiful Beaver Creek ski village at the base, before a sleigh ride dinner to Beano’s Cabin. Be sure to ask about the Golden Ticket for first tracks.

Aspen-Snowmass’ best ski hotel is the Viceroy at Snowmass, it luxurious, with grand suites, a stunning outdoor slope-view pool with fire pits, and top service. Located at the base of the biggest of Aspen’s four ski areas, The Viceroy is posh and perfectly situated for first and last chair. Aspen Snowmass offers the best skiing the Big Burn is high elevation heaven with superb views of the Maroon Bells. The family-friendly Limelight Hotel has two locations, slopeside at Snowmass and downtown Aspen near all the best après ski and shopping. Limelight is owned by Aspen – Alterra, and its pet and kid friendly.

Vail – stay at The Lodge at Vail – the original luxury chalet in Vail Village. Grab first chair, first tracks in Vail’s Back Bowls, and the first bar stool at Red Lion or Pepi’s for Vail’s après ski. Manor Vail is a beautiful condo resort ideal for a family ski vacation just a short walk from the village at Golden Peak. Vail Village has seen a renaissance while retaining its European charm, with luxury ski hotels by The Sebastian and Four Seasons Vail. Rock Resort’s Arrabelle and a Ritz-Carlton are in Lion’s Head Village, all offer top notch service for skiers.

Stowe, Vermont – stay on mountain at the luxurious Lodge at Spruce Peak at Stowe (formerly the Stowe Mountain Lodge) which resembles a grand Park Lodge, and enjoy the mountain view outdoor pool, spa and après ski at Hourglass amid beautiful birch trees in the swank lobby. The Ski Concierge will dry your ski boots, store and wax your skis. Ski the famous Front Four by day then explore the charming Stowe Village and Mountain Road. You will quickly see why Stowe is the Ski Capital of the East.

In New Hampshire, we love the romantic Mount Washington Resort Hotel – an Omni property, with its historic 1902 Hotel and the beautifully groomed, scenic ski slopes of Bretton Woods.

Big Sky Montana – stay slopeside at the Summit Hotel for one of the best ski hotels in the west. The Summit quickly went to the top of our ski hotel list for location and luxury. We love skiing Big Sky! Take a day off the slopes to explore nearby Yellowstone National Park by snow coach – or apply for membership at the neighboring private ski resort Yellowstone Club.

Deer Valley, Utah – stay slope side in luxury at The Montage, The St Regis, or the more traditional Stein Eriksen Lodge. Ski all day on perfect cord or fresh Utah pow, spa, wine and dine into the night! No Snowboarders allowed at Deer Valley…its quite exclusive that way. Be sure to stroll around the snowy streets of Park City, this old mining town is a gem with distilleries, bars, boutiques, great restaurants, and frequent festivals.

Telluride’s Fairmont Franz Klammer Lodge Heritage Place is a cool place to stay in Mountain Village.  Telluride tops many skiers’ best resort ski list, and this luxury Franz Klammer Lodge residence hotel in the heart of Telluride’s ski in ski out pedestrian plaza is very posh from the spacious suites to the rooftop spa and concierge service. Fairmont hotels are the fairest of them all – especially in ski country – Chateau Whistler, Chateau Lake Louise, Banff Springs, Jasper Park Lodge, Fairmont Trembant, Chateau Frontenac, you get the pretty picture.

Jackson Hole Wyoming – Four Seasons Jackson Hole is among our favorite five diamond ski hotels. Jackson Hole has some of the most demanding skiing, and big vertical in the country – so being ski in ski out at the finest Four Season is a treat, in the heart of in Teton Village, steps to the lifts from the ski butler lounge.  You will love Four Season outdoor decadent slope-view pool with a heated locker for your robe & slippers. Amangani is another luxury Jackson hotel with boutiquey suite lodging, a spa and spectacular outdoor heated pool, stunning views of the Grand Tetons and four diamond service and dining, just a short drive to the slopes and cowboy town of Jackson.

Snowbird/Alta in Utah is blanketed with over 500-inches of Utah’s trademark greatest snow on earth, and you have two interconnected ski mountains with exceptional expert terrain off the Tram, or on High Rustler at skiers-only Alta. Stay at The historic Rustler Lodge at Alta for complete service, superb meals included, and a slope view of namesake High Rustler trail. The Snowpine Lodge is a beautifully chic Alta ski hotel, opened 2019, at the base of Alta’s skiers only slopes.  The Cliff Lodge at Snowbird is big and the best when your skiing the ‘Bird – don’t miss the rooftop spa and dining at Aerie – also on the 10th floor with amazing Snowbird views!
